Namibian Dolphin Project

The Namibian Dolphin Project is up and running! See the LINKS list on this site for the NDP's blog. We are carrying out research on the distribution, abundance and habitat use of Heaviside's dolphins and bottlenose dolphins in Walvis Bay, Namibia, using photo-identification and static acoustic monitoring techniques. We are collaborating with a number of tour boat operators in the area, in order to collect research data on board their vessels, and to encourage an educational and conservation-oriented aspect to their interactions with marine wildlife.
The pilot phase of this project is running through June and July, 2008.
